MLS kicked off the 2023 season this weekend and the 29 clubs are ready to fight for the title. Major League Soccer welcomes St. Louis City SC, the latest team to join the competition to fulfill the expansion plan of the directors.

Nashville SC kicked off hostilities with a win against NYC FC

The first MLS match was between Nashville SC and NYC FC. The team from the state of Tennessee opened with a win. Walker Zimmerman was in charge of opening the scoreboard at minute 34. It was the first goal of the season. NYC tried to react, but they ran into a yellow wall. Jacob Shaffelburg closed the game in the 80th minute with the second goal for Nashville.

The Houston Dynamos poor delivery continues. Last season they were the worst team in MLS and it looks like this year will be no different. Hctor Herrera arrived to reinforce the team, but the Mexican midfielder has not been able to do anything to raise the Texans level.

Cincinnati was better in the game, although they struggled at the end of the first half. The Ohioans opened the scoreboard in the 19th minute through Sergio Santo, and the game was tied in the first halfs minutes of compensation through Tate Schmitt. Early in the second half, Obinna Nwobodo gave Cincinnati the lead. In the end, the score was 2-1.

Atlanta United won at the last minute at home against SJ Earthquakes

The team led by Mexican Gonzalo Pineda, Atlanta United, achieved an agonizing victory against San Jose Earthquakes.

Earthquakes struck the first blow very early in the match, just 12 minutes in, Jeremy Ebobisse scored the goal that gave his team the lead. Pineda adjusted and had most of the ball possession, but his team was not sharp in attack.

It was in the minutes of compensation that Atlanta got their reward. Thiago Almada scored a brace. The first goal was scored in the 93rd minute and the winning goal in the 99th minute.

Charlotte FC lost in the last minute against New England

In a game that looked like it was going to be the first 0-0 draw of the season, New England managed to take all three points from Charlotte as the game was winding down. Henry Kessler scored the only goal of the game in the 89th minute, giving Bruce Arenas team its first win of the tournament.

Orlando City shines against New York RB

Orlando City, coached by Colombian Oscar Pareja, achieved an important victory by beating New York Red Bulls 1-0. Orlando was better in the course of the match but lacked a sharp attacking edge. It took a penalty kick for City to take the lead.

In the 56th minute, Uruguayan Facundo Torres took the penalty that beat Carlos Coronel to give his team the victory.

No problem for Inter Miami as they beat Montreal

Inter Miami had no problems in their debut against Montreal at Lockhart Stadium. The team coached by the British Phil Neville was more accurate in their passing and especially in their shots on goal.

Serhiy Kryvtsov opened the scoring in the 41st minute. The score was closed in the 76th minute with a goal by Shanyder Borgelin.
